One thing I like about the United States:

July 4th, 2006

We test the limits. Democracy’s a big experiment with whether humanity can govern itself and stuff. It’s debatable what’s happening with that experiment now, but heck that’s the experiment. I kind of wish Columbus had been born like 200 years earlier and stuff and the U.S. got launched a couple centuries earlier, ‘cuz it’s hard to handle a rapid ascent to power with grace and smart decisions. But whatever, nobody’s gotten nuked yet. Except Japan. But that was a long time ago.
